Year One and Two - Minestrone

Making Minestrone
We learnt about all the vegetables and we were very good at pronouncing their names in Italian and now it was time to use these great foods.We peeled, cut and added all together to make a large pot of Minestrone soup. We got to taste it that afternoon and many of us went back for seconds. It was delicious and so healthy for us.



Che buono! Buonissimo even!
The Year 2s also had a great time preparing all the "verdure" for minestrone.

Giuseppe Arcimboldo 1527- 1593
He was famous for painting faces made up of fruits or vegetables. Some were comical while others were scary. The students in Year 5 didn't paint like Arcimboldo but cut out and pasted pictures to create faces.

What does Rinascimento mean?
Ri -  to do again and "nascere" to be born, so its the "rebirth".
We know it better as the Renaissance.It took place between 1350 and 1600.
 An important period in art history, especially in Italy.
